D. Answer the following questions:-

Que-1  Explain the need for local self government bodies?

Ans-1 The big cities and towns of our country are densely populated. About 25 Percent of the population of our country lives in them. There fore, they need more civic amenities like road, electricity, drinking water, hospitals, sanitation, schools, parks etc.in order to provide all these amenities, a proper administration as well as a lot of money is needed.so we need local self governments for this all work.

Que-2 Write a short note on the changed face of surat?
Ans-2 Before 1994, surat in Gujarat was like any other Indian City, one of the dirtiest cities of the country. The rapid urbanization and a sharp rise in the population gave rise to the problem of increased amount of garbage and overflowing drains. In 1994 Plague broke out in causing countrywide alaram. Both the citizen and the municipality  blamed each other for the epidmenic. The situation compelled the municipality to take immediate steos in cleaning up the city. Today surat is the second leanest city of India.

 Que-3 How are the members of a local body elected?

Ans-3 The member of the local body are elected representatives for a term of five years the town is divided into words according to its population and representatives are elected from each board the members elected president among themselves to preside over and conduct meeting
