A.Answer the following questions

Question 1 What is water pollution?

Answer 1 Falling of water by human activities is called water pollution.

 

Question .2 How do water bodies get polluted?

Answer .2 Water is polluted by any of the following:

harmful pesticides used by farmers chemical from soaps and detergents harmful chemicals from industries animal waste.

 

Question .3What kinds of disease does polluted water cause?

Answer .3Third various diseases in the body of human beings, such as diarrhoea typhoid, cholera, dysentery, hepatitis and jaundice.

 

Question .4 write the steps to purify water?

Answer .4 1.Sedimentation in this step water is allowed to stand still so that the heavy particles of impurities in it can settle down.

2.Filtration water is passed through chemical sand and gravel that act as filters to remove the final particles of impurities.

3. Chlorination chlorine is added to disinfect the water and kill the germs present in it.

 

Question .5 what is potable water?

Answer .5 Water suitable for drinking is called potable water.


C.Define the following terms:

1.Rainwater harvesting : Rainwater the main source of water can be conserved through rainwater harvesting. When water is collected in tanks and passed through filters to remove impurities. Then it is stored and used for drinking and other activities.


2.Chlorination:
Afer filtration, a small amount of chlorine is added to disinfect the water and kill the germs present it it.
